When you fly to Iceland you will land at our international airport in Keflavik, a 45 min drive from the capital Reykjavik. Many visitors find it a strange experience to land in Iceland since the airport in located in a part that looks like an arctic desert with lava rock, moss and mountains making up the horizon.

Arriving At Keflavik Airport

The international airport is small and very easy to navigate. Inside the airport there are several shops offering local products as well as international known brands. There is also a bar and a small restaurant if you want to grab some refreshments after you land or before departure.

Once you get through customs you have the option of taking a taxi or a bus to the city. Both will transport you to anywhere in the major capital area.

Domestic airport in Reykjavik

The domestic airport is located within a walking distance from Reykjavik´s city center. It´s recommended that passengers check in 60 minutes prior to their flight.

From the domestic airport Air Iceland offers flights to Isafjordur, Akureyri, Egilsstadir and the Westman Islands. Also available are flight to the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Eagle Air offers scheduled flights to Hofn in Hornafjordur, Saudarkrokur, Bildudalur and Gjogur Island. They also offer other specialized tours.

If you are scheduled to take a helicopter tour while in Iceland, your departure will also be from Iceland´s domestic airport.
